T.H.I.S. Place (Closed)

To be happy is simple. That’s what T.H.I.S. Place stands for and they surely deliver the message. T.H.I.S. Place is my new favorite hang out spot since it’s located right across the street from school (across from Macewan University building 5). I go here probably almost everyday to grab a hot drink, usually a Chai latte. I have an addiction to Chai and when I found out that they carried Remedy’s Chai, I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist. Owned by the same owners as Lan’s Asian Grill, T.H.I.S. Place is a modern, artistic cafe-bistro that serves hot & cool drinks, home-made popsicles, and Viet/Thai food. It makes a perfect hang-out or study spot because of their inviting atmosphere and super friendly service!

Chalkboard menus, ah so hip

On a previous visit, I decided to get the orange hot chocolate (bottom right) instead of a chai latte. The orange hot chocolate could either be made with dark, milk, or white chocolate. I chose dark chocolate which was a perfect complement with the orange. Their hot chocolates are made in-house and there’s a variety of flavours to choose from for all the hot chocolate lovers out there!
Their salad rolls ($8.50 for 4) are freshly pre-made and rolled to be very thick. Stuffed with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, and shrimp, they are served with a peanut sauce that has a sweeter taste to it.

For myself, I ordered the beef brisket pho ($10). It took a bit longer than expected, which normally I wouldn’t mind except I had to run back to class! The broth was delicious and full of flavour while the brisket was a bit on the drier side.

My friend had the Thai pork basil dish ($11) which came with rice. It was bit more on the spicy side and was served with fresh peppers.
This place is a bit hidden from the streets but it’s very easy to find! I recommend checking them out for one of their hot drinks or some asian food if you’re hungry and around the Macewan area.
