Life’s Simple Ingredient

Are you used the new normal yet?

As a food blogger, one of my favourite things to do is to visit restaurants and enjoy food with
good company. Unfortunately, it’s been almost 2 months since I’ve been able to do so. Luckily,
many restaurants in Edmonton have switched to take-out and/or delivery. Even restaurants
that have never offered it before! I guess that’s the only benefit of the new normal for a foodie like me.

I’ve partnered up with the Life’s Simple Ingredient to put together a list of take-out places in
Edmonton that uses wheat in their everyday items. I love to eat local, and Alberta produces
some of the highest quality wheat in the world. In fact, our wheat is shipped around the globe
to be used in all kinds of cuisine. Here are some of my favourite spots to enjoy our wheat right here in YEG.

Prairie Noodle Shop

The locally-made ramen noodles at Prairie Noodle Shop uses flour from Red Deer. If you want to get into the specifics, the flour uses Canadian Western Red Spring wheat which is the most popular wheat in Western Canada. You can get these noodles in a variety of ramen bowls at Prairie Noodle Shop. Pictured here is the Prairie Pork Shio. They are currently offering take-out and UberEats delivery.

LOVEPIZZA

At LOVEPIZZA, one of the options for pizza dough is 100% organic whole-wheat which is made with flour from Gold Forest Grains in Sturgeon County. I prefer eating pizza with whole-wheat rather than regular flour because it has a higher fibre content. You can pick up a whole-wheat pizza from here through curb-side take-out or delivery.

Fife N Dekel

If you’re looking for numerous items that use Canadian wheat in one place, Fife N Dekel is your stop! Here, their flour comes from P&H Milling in Lethbridge. You can find it in their cinnamon buns, scones, pie pastry, bread, muffins, and brownies. All freshly made in-house. They are currently offering take-out and delivery.

Remedy Cafe

Remedy Cafe focuses on sourcing local and Canadian ingredients. Their flour comes from ADM Milling in Calgary which can be found in their wraps, pita, and naan. Their baked goods also use the same flour. If you want to order, you can do so through take-out or delivery.

Grey Mare Burger

Operating out of Wishbone’s kitchen is Grey Mare Burger. They’re a new burger take-out venture that uses Canadian wheat in their potato brioche buns. If you want to grab a burger, it’s available for take-out only.

Here are some other take-out places that use Alberta wheat:

Bonjour Bakery

Bonton Bakery

Doughnut Party

Zwick’s Pretzels

Whether you’re cooking at home or ordering in, it’s easy to enjoy Canadian wheat in your diet.
