Tony’s Pizza Palace

Tony’s Pizza Palace has been opened for over 25 years yet I never had the chance to go until recently. It is located near downtown in an older building that gave off a friendly atmosphere. The service was a bit lacking but it was understandable since we came during their dinner rush. Specializing in house-made pizzas and an array of Italian dishes, the expectations were high for this long-standing restaurant.

I had the daily drink special for $6. This one is the Tuesday special and it included blue curaçao and gin. The drink leaned more towards the sweeter side as the alcohol was not that strong.
We ordered a Peter’s Special to share. Priced at $21.50 for a large size, the pizza came with 8 big slices. The pizza was topped with mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, and lots of cheese. The menu stated that it came with bacon but unfortunately it was not put on. I honestly didn’t even realize this till looking at the menu again just now (oops!). The slices of pepperoni were thickly sliced and tasted very fresh. The pizza itself was more of a thinner crust and came out slightly soggy. Sadly, the pizza didn’t seem all that special to me. It might have just been the one I ordered but I hope that the other pizzas are more outstanding.
So what’s the verdict? Considering all the hype that surrounds Tony’s Pizza Palace, I might be back to give it a second chance and see if I had just ordered the wrong item on my first visit.
