Craft Beer Market

Craft Beer Market is known for their beer selection and rooftop patio, which are the only two things that make them stand out. I’ve been there three times before finally deciding to blog about it and not for the right reasons. Centrally located downtown, Craft is in a large spacious building that has been well designed. The rooftop patio is quite large and perfect in the summertime.
The first time I tried Craft was around the same time that it had opened in the winter. I remembered ordering the Craft Mac & Cheese ($16) and enjoying it a lot. I told myself that I would come back to Craft for sure, to try out other items. Fast forward to summertime…

My friends and I decided to stop by Craft for dessert and drinks after we ate lunch elsewhere. I ordered the Dessert In a Jar ($8) because it sounded interesting, and honestly who doesn’t love food in jars?! Well the portion itself was quite big because I originally ordered it for myself but ended up splitting it between 2 other people. The dessert was stout infused chocolate cake, bits of sponge toffee, slices of bananas, cashews, and chocolate sauce with Pinocchio vanilla ice cream on top. I found that the cake had a bitter taste to it and was as dry as a brownie. The sponge toffee pieces left a bad aftertaste. If it wasn’t for the ice cream, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the dessert at all.
The third time I went to Craft, which will most likely be the last time, was to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Both of my friends ordered Baja Fish Tacos ($15) which they enjoyed. They wished that the tacos had sauce inside it though, instead of just hot sauce on the side. The tacos surprisingly came with a side, unlike other places.

I debated between many items and eventually chose the Brewmaster’s Chicken Sandwich ($15) after asking our waitress for advice. I was disappointed to see that it was still served with tomatoes when I had requested for none. The sandwich itself was poorly constructed and presented on a wooden board. Although it contained so many ingredients, it didn’t make up for the flavourless chicken. The bun was very dry and was very big compared to the fillings of the burger. The fries on the side were just as tasteless as the burger itself. I was very disappointed with this lunch as I had come to Craft starving.

For dessert, we ordered the Dark Chocolate Brownie ($8). Sadly, dessert was a disappointment too. The brownie was tasteless and didn’t contain a rich chocolate taste like dark chocolate has.
Third time is usually the charm but I guess it doesn’t apply to Craft Beer Market. I’m not much of a beer drinker but hopefully they excel in that area, considering it’s their specialty.
