St. Albert

Vee Restaurant & Lounge

When people go to the casino, their intention is to usually gamble, not eat. However, casino restaurants are a good place to satisfy your hunger even if you didn’t intend on going to the casino in the first place! Hidden inside Century Casino St. Albert is a restaurant that goes by the name of Vee Restaurant & Lounge. Switzerland-born Executive Chef Michel Rey serves casual favourites and comfort food. On Friday and Saturday nights at 9 pm, you can find live entertainment. On weekdays, there are daily specials which usually lead to a full house of locals, such as Prime Rib Thursdays. You can also find monthly feature specials if you want to stray away from their menu.

Disclaimer: although I was invited in by Century Casino St. Albert for a complimentary meal, my review is 100% unbiased and based on my own opinion.

Yam Fries $8

I started off my meal with an order of yam fries. Served with chipotle mayo, these fries were fresh and crispy with the right amount of salt. They were honestly some of the best yam fries I’ve ever had! Would recommend ordering this as an appetizer or even as a quick bite.

Mac and Cheese $10

My friend had the mac and cheese which came with naan bread. We found the naan bread pairing to be a bit odd but no complaints on the taste. As for the mac and cheese, it had a creamy blend of brie and swiss cheese. It wasn’t overwhelming cheesy, and the noodles were cooked well with a nice chew to it.

Steak Sandwich $19

Our server told us that the steak sandwich was the most popular item on the menu so I decided to try it. The steak itself was cooked well, it was tender but I wish there was a bit more seasoning on it. I liked the garlic baguette that came with it as you really can’t go wrong with garlic bread. For my side, I decided to go with a baked potato which came with the usual fixins.

7oz AAA Steak $22

My friend’s main dish was similar to mine, except his steak came with vegetables, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. He also thought his steak was cooked properly and enjoyed the fresh vegetables that came with it. For his side, he went with the mashed potatoes which he said weren’t anything special but did the job (when do you ever go wrong with potatoes?).

Lemon Meringue Pie $4.50

If you’re looking for a sweet ending, there are a variety of desserts offered. My friend and I shared a lemon meringue pie which was the monthly feature dessert. Other desserts that they have are carrot cake, tiramisu, turtle cheesecake, and chocolate pecan bread pudding.

Vee Restaurant & Lounge is a good place to grab a bite if you’re in the St. Albert area. They also offer banquet facilities and private dining.
