124 Street, Date Night, Edmonton

Brasserie Bardot

Brasserie Bardot isn’t your typical French restaurant. The owners of Violino took over Manor Bistro’s location off of 124 Street to open this pub-style bistro. Their goal was to put a modern twist on French cuisine, which is apparent through the dishes.

An extensive wine list is offered here. Tastings come in sizes of 3 oz (pictured), 6 oz, and 9 oz (pictured). I don’t often see 3 oz offered at other restaurants but found it to be the right amount for myself as I like having wine but only a little bit.

Fontine $12

When I first attended the Media Night in October, the Fontine was the most memorable item for me. I was excited to have the full version during dinnertime. The Fontine is a mixture of poutine and fondue. There is wine added to the gravy to give it a slightly richer taste. Mixed with 2 types of cheese, white cheddar and smoked raclette, Brasserie Bardot’s version of poutine is amazing!

Wings a L’orange $12

The Wing’s a L’orange were coated with a spiced orange glaze. It wasn’t spicy but rather gave the wings a bit of a sweet taste. The wings were crispy on the outside and quite enjoyable.

3-Course Fondue ($59 for 2 ppl) – First Course: Cheese Fondue

My boyfriend and I decided to have the 3-Course Fondue. It is $36 for one person or $59 for two people. For two people, this pretty much averages out to $10 per course per person. Such a great deal! The first course was cheese fondue with bread. The second course was Beef Bourguignon. Cooked prior to arriving at the table, it was served with sauteed mushrooms and gravy for dipping. We found the beef to be dry but informed them – hopefully, it has been fixed now. The third course was Bernard Callebaut chocolate fondue. Bernard Callebaut is my favourite chocolatier so I loved that it was offered here! For dipping, there was housemade toffee, bananas, strawberries, and bread pudding. Overall, we enjoyed all the courses and would definitely order it again. If you don’t feel like having fondue, there are salads, burgers, sandwiches, and steaks. Psst: their steaks come with unlimited frites!

Second Course: Beef Bourguignon

Third Course: Bernard Callebaut Chocolate

If you’re in the mood for a French-inspired comfort meal, check out Brasserie Bardot. We found the vibe to be perfect for a date night that wasn’t too uptight or too casual. The food and wine were very fairly priced too.

Disclosure: Although my dinner was complimentary thanks to Brasserie Bardot, a post was not expected. My review is 100% unbiased and based on my own, sincere experience.
