Dauphine Bakery (Closed)

Welcome back to Edmonton, Dauphine Bakery!

About a month ago, I made a stop at the newly re-opened Dauphine Bakery. If you’ve never heard of Dauphine Bakery before, it used to be located in downtown Edmonton on 104 Street. I still remember taking the bus in the winter, entering the doors to escape the cold to the smell of baked goods, and walking down the stairs to enjoy one of their well-known tarts! Oh, nostalgia. When I found out in 2016 that it was closing down, I was pretty disheartened. Then earlier this year, I heard that they had opened up again! This French-inspired bakery is now tucked away in the neighborhood of Montrose, close to the northside.

During my visit here, I was quite happy to see that they still had their delicious tarts! I grabbed a lemon tart for myself and it tasted just like how I had remembered it from years ago. The lemon filling was smooth and tart, while the crust was flaky but stiff enough to not fall apart easily. If you like lemon tarts, this is a must-have. My friend tried their butter tart, accompanied by a latte.

Savoury quiches and pies

Winter themed cookies (probably replaced by spring ones now!)

Along with baked goods and cafe drinks, Dauphine Bakery also offers lunch and brunch. I hope that they will be staying for good this time!
