Qup Cafe (Closed)

I’ve been wanting to try Qup Cafe for a while now and finally had the chance to last night. My friends and I usually go for bubble tea and we decided to go to Qup Cafe. It’s a smaller bubble tea place close to the University Area, on the upper floor of the building right beside Upper Crust Cafe. They have a few tables for dining in and a set of comfy looking couches. The atmosphere is very relaxing and laid-back, with a few board games for friends who wanna hang out. Their menu isn’t too overpriced and consists of snacks and bubble tea. For snacks, there are desserts and savoury items such as soup noodles, fish balls, and chicken dumplings. Their bubble tea comes in milk, fresh fruit, and combination flavours.
Strawberry crepe, green tea ferrero rocher, tareo, and watermelon bubble teas

I decided to try the strawberry crepe ($6) and a green tea ferrero rocher bubble tea. The strawberry crepe was a one person portion and was filled with whipped cream and strawberries. The strawberries were surprisingly sweet, considering how it’s not ‘strawberry season’. It was delicious and satisfied my sweet tooth!
The green tea ferrero rocher is on their secret menu (shh you didn’t hear this from me!). It was sooo good. I definitely recommend trying it out. You can definitely taste a balance of both the matcha powder and blended up ferrero rochers in the drink. It’s even topped with a ferrero rocher chocolate! Another drink that’s on the secret menu is tareo (taro and oreo). I’ve had it before at a different bubble tea place but I’ll have to admit that Qup makes it a bit better. The tareo drink tasted a bit like vanilla with some cookies and cream added to it. Yum!
I also ordered some fries ($3.50) to share with my friends. Just a warning that these fries take 20 minutes to come out but they’re worth the wait! The fries take a long time because they’re baked and lightly salted, instead of being deep fried. I guess they’re a bit more healthier than regular fries? They have a soft texture that has a bit of a crisp to it. They’re almost reminiscent of those addictive Costco fries.
Qup Cafe is one of the few bubble teas that stand out in Edmonton since so many are popping up nowadays. I would consider it a hidden gem but it might not stay this way for long considering how busy it was on my visit. It certainly won’t be my last visit as well!
