B’s Diner (Closed)

B’s Diner is a hidden gem located on the far side of Whyte Ave. I had come here twice already but both times it was closed so I guess the third time is the charm! The interior can be described as a dingy diner but it’s well kept by the owner. My friend and I had the chance to meet the owner as he was our server and made our dining experience enjoyable. The diner offers a variety of food, from breakfast, to perogies, to my new favorite item.. ramen burgers!

What are ramen burgers? They’re burgers that use instant-ramen as buns instead, except the ramen is cooked and grilled, and not hard like it’s straight out of the package. B’s Diner offers not just one ramen burger, but a variety for $11 each. It doesn’t come with any sides but you don’t need any because it’s filling by itself. The “bun” appears to look crispy but when you bite into it, it’s perfectly grilled to be not too soft with a bit of crispiness to it. The beef patty itself was juicy and was a nice combination with the ramen “bun”.
I ordered the Rising Sun, which came with a fried egg, arugula, green onions, furikake (dry Japanese seasoning), and Japanese spicy mayo. I found that the mayo wasn’t really spicy, which I liked since I am not a fan of spicy things. My friend ordered the East Meets West, composed of bacon, cheddar, Japanese spicy mayo, arugula, and green onions, while the patty is glazed in a Japanese teriyaki sauce called Tare.

We also shared a plate of pan fried perogies ($10.75).  Filled with cheddar and potato, they were fried to a soft crisp.
The owner kindly gave us a Polish salad to try as well. The salad was a combination of cucumbers, sour cream, lemon juice, and dill.

Overall, B’s Diner was a great diner experience and it certainly won’t be my last time there!
