Taste of Edmonton 2014 Recap

Can you guess what my favourite festival in Edmonton is? Of course it’s food related! Sadly, I only got to go to Taste of Edmonton once this year but I made the best of it. Taste of Ed happens once a year during the same period as Kdays. If you’ve never been to it, it’s a food festival downtown featuring 2 or 3 food items from different restaurants in Edmonton.

Chicken masala perogies from Select. They were different from regular perogies because the filling consisted of chicken, peas, and ginger instead of potatoes and cheese. The perogies were very well cooked and would make for a good appetizer. It was topped with tamarind yogurt instead of sour cream as well, but still had a creamy touch to the perogies.
Cheese fondue and chocolate fondue from The Melting Pot. The cheese fondue was very cheesy and would’ve tasted better if the bread bowl had a bit of crisp to it as it was too soft. The chocolate fondue was perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Bacon wrapped chicken from Pampa Brazillian Steakhouse. Delicious, as always, and personally one of my favorite items from Pampa. There is a Pampa food truck this summer at many festivals so I would definitely recommend giving this item a try!
Banana bread pudding from Zinc. My favorite food item of the day! I am definitely stopping by Zinc to have more of this. The pudding was soft and perfect, topped with caramel sauce, whipping cream, and a bruleed banana. The small portion certainly made me crave more.
Peach tea, ninja turtle dangle, and candy crush from The Canadian Brewhouse. The ninja turtle dangle quenched my thirst especially since I love fruity drinks. It consisted of blue curacao and grape soda.
Slushberry Lemonade from The Canadian Brewhouse. I found that it lacked a bit of taste which might have been because of the blended ice.
Overall, I was satisfied with my Taste of Ed experience this year and can’t wait till next year!
