Woodwork

I was really excited to go to Woodwork after hearing all the hype about it. I went almost 2 months ago, but since I’ve only recently started my blog, I’ll be making posts about some places I’ve already gone to this year. My friend and I went on a Thursday afternoon and thankfully I had made last minute reservations that week as it was packed when we entered. The restaurant itself is quite narrow and small but I loved the Woodwork neon sign above the front door. They also had a nice range of alcohol, as displayed by their huge bar selection. For lunch, Woodwork offers a few menu choices for $15 each.

My order of pork pie came with a side of tomato relish and tomato soup with croutons. I’m a big fan of pork pie and I thought that Woodwork’s provided great comfort food. The crust was flaky and probably my favorite part of the pie. The pork was well seasoned and went nicely with the tomato relish. The soup on the other hand lacked a bit of flavour. I’m not sure if it was because my croutons were in the soup for too long but they were too soggy to enjoy. I would like to try a different soup though, if I ever had to order one as a side.
My friend ordered the BBQ burger with fries (I forgot the exact name of it). I didn’t try her burger but even though her fries had some grease on it, its tastiness won me over. She said that the burger was quite a big portion despise its small appearance.
Along with my molasses iced tea, which was quite refreshing, my meal filled me up quickly. I still had some room for dessert though (honestly, when do I not leave room for dessert?). Woodwork didn’t offer any dessert options for lunch that day but our waitress was nice enough to bring my friend and I some peanut butter cookies. Overall, did Woodwork live up to its hype? I would say so!
